Lesson from theory test

Lesson from theory test

I must admit I have not been active on my Blog these past days. Well, I would like to ‘excuse’ myself.

The thing is that I failed my theory test to get a new driving license in Denmark. Long story short, I decided to exchange my current license (American or Uzbek) to the Danish one. And I think since 2007 all those who want to swap their driving licenses to the local one, they need to pass both a theory test and a driving test.

Because of our trip to Orlando 3 weeks ago I was a little bit overwhelmed with everything going on, so I essentially had only 2 full days to prepare for my theory test. Not surprisingly, I did not pass (made 8 mistakes with only five allowed in order to pass). So, unlike in America where it was relatively easy to pass the tests after one day of reading the book I got a little bit challenged here (since Danish is my fourth language). And also got sort of mad at myself a bit :) [Read more...]

Phenomenon in Orlando

Hello from room 668 of Orlando Airport Marriott Hotel,

The first day of the Phenomenon conference is over. I just wanted to share these pictures we have taken in the past 48 hours. Orlando is beautiful (a bit chilly though in the evenings).

Inspirational E-cards To See And Quotes To Remember

Art to inspire

Art to inspire

Back when I was a student, I remember we once had a Danish keynote speaker come over to our school and deliver an inspirational presentation about his entrepreneurial life. Kim Aronson who lives and work in Berkeley, California talked about the two words both starting with an P – patience and passion.

Those two words have been stuck in mind ever since. I may not remember everything what Kim said but I do remember him emphasizing the fact that one needs to be passionate and patient about what he or she does. I happened to find a great collection of inspirational e-cards on one of Kim’s websites called soulweavers.com. I wanted to share it here. Take a look and I think you will appreciate the art and the spirit of these inspiring cards and the quotes that come along. Take a look and enjoy. [Read more...]

Most Frequently Used Active Verbs For Literature Review In Master Thesis

List of active verbs

List of active verbs

Based on my own experience, there is a list of active verbs which are used most frequently in literature reviews of theses and dissertations.

A lot of lists I found on Google are perhaps bigger lists but in most, if not all, cases those verbs are inappropriate for literature reviews of a thesis or a dissertation. So, I compiled my own list of active verbs. Here are all the words in a non-user-friendly way (link to PDF file below). [Read more...]

No Arms, No Legs – Are You Going To Finish Strong? Watch This Guy

Nick on the stage

Nick on the stage

The following story I want to talk about has blown my mind away. When you watch the video below it will be hard for you to stop the tears. And I seriously meant it.

His name is Nick Vujicic. No arms, no legs is what can describe this young man from the first sight. But when look closer into his story you will understand that Nick is a living example of the people who possess the strong attitudes a human being can be blessed with.

Hopeless, alone, pointless to live is what it used to feel for Nick when struggling through his life. There was no point to do anything like going to school, not to mention going to the university. [Read more...]

5 Rules On How To Increase Creativity When Writing A Paper

Think creatively

Think creatively

Master students experience writer blocks quite often simply because they are not passionate about the subject they write about. Now if you just started writing your project on a subject matter that you are not ‘crazy’ about I would try to circumvent you to change your topic. But let’s suppose that I don’t want to do that. Let’s just say, for the sake of the argument, we have to deal with what we’ve got. How would we go about increasing your creativity when writing a thesis or any other research paper? [Read more...]
