Excuses! Excuses! Excuses!

We, humans, are really good at making all sorts of excuses. Very often we don’t even notice how they slip through on our tongue.

We create, as writers call them, “blocks” that prevent us from doing/pursueing what we really want in our lives. We procrastinate and that ’someday’ becomes a decease that takes us to the grave with us.

We don’t have time for things we truly know are important to us. As Timothy Ferriss, the author of “The 4-Hour Workweek”, says we should be focusing on being productive rather than being busy.

Or as Steven Pressfield, the author of the book “The War of Art” says ‘… that negative force, that dark antagonism to creativity, is embedded deep in our humanity’.

The good news is this: if you are reading this post now then you are or you want to be conscious about that ‘negative’ you.

If you need to accomplish something in your life and you need to be aware of the fact that you put it off. Here are my favorite quotes for you to consider:

1) “When inspiration touches talent, she gives birth to truth and beauty” - Steven Pressfield.

2) “How many pages have I produced? I don’t care. Are they any good? I don’t even think about it. All that matters is I’ve put my time and hit it with all I’ve got. All that counts is that, for this day, for this session, I have overcome Resistance.”

When writing his master piece “A New Earth”, Eckhart Tolle also mentioned that he was struggling writing it. Sometimes he would produce very little or nothing. But that does not mean that did not sit and did not give it all he had.

The bottom line is create awareness of the Resistance that lives within you. You don’t need to fight it just, as Anthony Robbins says, “dance” with it and you will be fine (actually more than that).
